O-ring is one of the most commonly used sealing rings. Due to the different working conditions used, most of the requirements for the sealing ring are different, so there are many types of sealing rings. What are the common materials of O-ring? Under what circumstances does it apply?
Common sealing ring materials are hydrogenated nitrile rubber, nitrile rubber, silicone rubber, fluorine rubber, fluorosilicone rubber, butyl rubber, etc.
1.Nitrile butadiene rubber
It is generally used in water, silicone oil, glycol hydraulic oil and other media, but not suitable for ozone, ketone nitrohydrocarbon and other polar solutions.
2. Fluororubber
It has good ozone resistance and weather resistance, and its high temperature resistance is better than that of silicone rubber, but its cold resistance is poor. Generally used in the fuel system and chemical plant O-ring seal, in ketones, nitrate mixture is not recommended.
3. Silicone rubber
It can be resistant to cold, heat, ozone and atmospheric aging, but its tensile strength is poor, and it does not have oil resistance. It is generally used for O-ring seal on household appliances, such as microwave oven, water heater, electric iron, drinking machine, kettle, etc.
4. Hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber
It has good corrosion resistance, compression resistance and tear resistance. It can also resist the damage of ozone, sunlight and oil pollution. It is suitable for O-ring seal in automobile engine, washing machinery and new ring refrigeration system, but it can not be used in ester, alcohol and aromatic solvent.
5. Fluorosilicone rubber
Fluorosilicone rubber combines the advantages of silicone rubber and fluoro rubber. It can resist the erosion of oxygen-containing compounds, fluorine-containing solvents and aromatic solvents, and has good oil, fuel oil and solvent resistance. Generally, O-ring used in military and aerospace fields is not recommended in brake oil and ketones.
6. Butyl rubber
It has good heat resistance and air tightness, can resist the invasion of sunlight, polar solvents and ozone, and has good insulation. It can be exposed to oxides or animal and vegetable oils. It is generally used in vacuum equipment and chemical resistant O-ring, which can not be used with petroleum, aromatic hydrocarbon or coal oil.
